Great SL artists gather to fight cancer – and you can join them

For the second year, Second Life residents will be able to join some great artists of the virtual world in the Visions of Hope project to raise funds in benefit of Relay For Life of SL – an initiative to help fighting cancer, increasing awareness and providing support to survivors and caretakers. Opening this saturday, April 30, with a party at 4 p.m. SL Time, this new edition of the Visions of Hope art exhibition and auction has some great surprises: first, besides the photos, that the event concentrated on in 2015, it also brings to the public some sculptures (not many, it’s just a first experiment to verify the possibility of including them in a lager number in future editions) and, second, it mixes artists that participated in last year’s edition with others that joined in 2016.

Visions of Hope 2016, at Visions of Hope Gallery, features Bijou, Boudicca Amat, Ciottolina Xue, d-oo-b, Dru G. Eiren-Milneaux, Em Larsson (or Moira Law), Hills, Inara Pey, Mareea Farrasco, Nikolai Warden, Proph, Pusher, Randy FirebrandTomais Ashdene, Trinity Yazimoto, Ziki Questi and me. The number of pieces increased in comparison with 2015: we have 33 items now. All of them are participating in the auction. In order to place a bid, one just has to click on the title boards. The minimum bid is just L$ 500 and the amounts can be increased by at least L$ 100 each time. The exhibition runs for one month, from April 30 until May 30, and, when it closes, we will learn who acquired what.

In the opening party, on the first day, Cupric will be in charge of the tunes for two hours, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. For those who don’t know him, it’s worth noticing that Cupric is one of a kind, an original, eclectic DJ. I have no idea of what he’s preparing to us, what songs he will play, but I like to be surprised by him.

The Relay For Life of Second Life is part of a larger initiative by the American Cancer Society (ACS). If you would like to learn more about the whole initiative, the official Relay For Life web page is a good place to start getting informed. According to the Society, the funds raised during the Relay events help financing research and supporting cancer patients and caretakers. Visions oh Hope is organized for the Hope Have Heroes RFL Team, as one of their contributions to the Relay For Life of SL.
